JJ ECC81 / 12AT7 Preamp Vacuum Tube

The JJ ECC81/12AT7 is a medium gain pre-amplifying double triode. It can be also used as lower gain replacement for 12AX7 in many applications. The JJ 12AT7 produces a very smooth and warm sound with low microphonics. This is a good choice for phase inverters or reverb drivers.

    • This was bought to replace a 12AX7 in a modern VOX tube amp that was just a tad to Gainey. It worked out very well and added a bit of brightness that was missing.

    • Very good, low microphonic tube. Probably the quietest and most rattle proof new production tube on the market. They work really well as a V1 tube. They are slightly darker sounding than Tung-Sols, but nothing an EQ adjustment can't adjust.

    • I use one of these right before the power tubes instead of a 12ax7 and it gives my amp more headroom and push.

    • 12AT7 has less gain than the Tungol 12 AX7 I was using in V1 on a HRD Fender, and much warmer, had to boost the treble to bring it back.

    • Great tube works as advertised not noisey or microphonic. I just put all new tubes in my 68 Fender Pro Reverb, with all the other tubes and solid state rectifier, the Pro has never sounded better.

    • I used this tube to make the volume control on my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, way more usable. It works great and also makes the whole amp sound warmer and smoother. It also made the amps overdrive much more usable. Great tube and a very cheap fix for some big issues with the Deluxe.

    • These 12AT7 tubes make my Blackstar HT Club 40 mkii sound a bit cleaner in both channels. Just what I was hoping for! Thanks!
