The TELEFUNKEN EL84-TK is a perfect replacement for any EL84 / 6BQ5 tube offering a reliable and great sound. It is a thermionic valve of the power pentode type.

Originally designed for the output stages of audio frequency amplifiers, the EL84 can deliver up to 17 watts. Although it is physically smaller than most common output tubes, this pentode tube can really deliver. In many ways it is similar to the EL34 but without the output "horse power".

The EL84, like its EL34 cousin, are found in many British amplifiers, particularly those from VOX. When overdriven, the EL84 power tubes in these amplifiers produce a distinctive chiming and articulate sound when compared to 6L6 tubes more commonly used in American amplifiers.

Please Note: Telefunken Black Diamond tubes are sold singly. Power tubes will be supplied in matched pairs or quads. Just order the quantity you need. If you want preamp tubes to be high gain or matched, just ask during checkout and we'll get it taken care of for you.

  • Bought these to upgrade the JJ el84s, gotta say, they really don't live up to the $26.00 price tag. I know they are essentially JJ tubes with better QC, but sure don't sound any better. I have had a great experience with the Mullard RI, and was hoping for something similar. Diassappointed for sure

  • This is a very musical tube in the right amp. I rolled through this Telefunken, JJ, Sovtek 84 & 84M, Chinese, and NOS Philco in both a Vox AC4 and Marshall Class 5 thru Bogner 1x12 Greenback. This tube had the perfect chime and detail in the Vox. It took that Vox sound and enhanced it. It was crunchy when driven and round/open when backed off. In the Marshall though, it was too biting and bright. There was an unnatural clanginess in the high-end. NOS Philco & Sovtek 84 fit better in that amp.
