TS-5881
Built just like the old original, these new Tung-Sol 5881 have great compression and a lot of the tonal character you would expect from the Tung-Sol brand. We compared these to the JAN 6L6WGB and NOS Tung-Sol 5881 are were very surprised to hear how good they are. If you have a Bassman or any other 6L6 tube amp and want tighter, more compressed tone then these are for you.

I've used these in a 40W push-pull guitar amp. I like them; they are quite warm.

We use these in all of our American voiced amplifiers. These tubes are rock solid and dependable. Tone is warm with an amazing top end shimmer and tight bass. Very close to the original!

Lots of tone, nice compression and tight bass. If you think of buying power tubes for upgrading your amp, these tubes are ''No-brainers''. Go for it!!!

I tested one of these in a single-ended amp versus a vintage Tung-Sol 5881, and it compared very well. Not exactly the same, but close enough to get the job done. Recommended if you want the vintage 5881 sound at sane prices.

A matched quad of these turned my 90's JCM 900 from OK to stellar.

I put 2 of these in a fisher 70-AZ monoblock I rescued. It was doa when I got it. Some wires were loose and some were soldered in the wrong place. I recapped it and fixed the wiring. It worked but with the old power tubes it was making a high pitched awful sound when it warmed up after about 5 minutes. These fixed that issue and it now sounds fantastic. Like the description says. I bet they get even better with time.

These tubes work and sound great. They really mellowed out my 65 Super Reverb. I'm going to get more for my Twin. Great tubes.

I use the Tung-Sol New Production 5881s in all my Ranger builds. These tubes are great... plenty of power and beautiful tone.

During handful of 6L6 tube rolling, I found that 5881 is likely to produce the smoothest and most delicate sound. When I listen to string quartets, the ensemble of chords are a lot harmonious.

Compared to various 6L6 family of Tung-sol including 6L6 GC STR and 7581A, 5881 seems least powerful in mid-range. Otherwise, high and low are very delicate and musically expressive for the stringed or wind instruments. Besides, percussion sounds light like a feather in wind. Though less likely all-round player, uniquely more harmonious with chamber music.
